Award Nominations

Each year the ASEEGSW section presents the following awards during the ASEEGSW section annual meetings:

  1. Section Best Paper Awards
  2. Section Outstanding Campus Representative Award
  3. GSW Section Outstanding Teaching Award (February 8, 2024 nomination deadline)
  4. GSW   Section – Outstanding Young Faculty Award (February 8, 2024 nomination deadline)
  5. GSW   Section – Outstanding Service Award (February 8, 2024 nomination deadline)
  6. GSW   Section Person Mile Award (No nomination needed for this award)

I encourage you to nominate your qualified colleagues for one of the awards. The nomination process and qualification criteria for the awards listed above are described on the ASEE website, which can be accessed using the following link (See Section Awards): https://www.asee.org/membership-and-communities/AWARDS-HONORS/Complete-List  . Please use the Nomination Form (PDF) link for all nominations.

  1. The best papers are selected from the papers published in the conference proceedings and presented at the conference. The recipients of the best paper awards will be announced right after the lunch on the last day of the conference. All paper presenters are encouraged to be present during the awards ceremony.
  2. No nomination is needed for the Section Outstanding Campus Representative Award. Selection is based on the evaluation of the annual “Campus Representative Activity” reports submitted to ASEE by the individual campus representatives.
  3. The nomination package for the Section Outstanding Teaching Award must be e-mailed (awards@asee.org) to ASEE Headquarters. Also, please email a copy of the nomination package to the section Awards Chair, akarimi@utsa.edu .  Please note that the GSW Section Outstanding Teaching Award winner will qualify for the ASEE National Teaching Award in the following year. Therefore, it is important that the nominee meets most or all of the requirements for the award.
  4. For the GSW Section Outstanding Young Faculty Award, please send the nomination package via email directly to Section Awards Chair, akarimi@utsa.edu. Please include a nomination cover letter describing the qualifications of the nominee, the nominee’s contact information, the starting date as a faculty, a current CV, and supporting letters from colleagues and students.  Please limit the nomination package to 20 pages.  The nominees are encouraged to attend the ASEEGSW section meeting.
  5. For the GSW Section Outstanding Service Award, please send the nomination package via email directly to the section Awards Chair, akarimi@utsa.edu. Please include a nomination cover letter describing the qualifications of the nominee, the nominee’s contact information, a current CV, and supporting letters (if any). Please highlight the nominee’s activities and contribution to ASEEGSW section. Please limit the nomination package to 20 pages. The nominees are encouraged to attend the ASEEGSW section meeting.
  6. Section Person Mile Award is presented to an institution with the highest number of miles traveled to the annual conference by all the participants from that institution.
